Psalm 91-8-10 NIV
8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
In the beginning of our trial, I remember reading about the punishment of the wicked and thinking, I don’t care about the punishment of others—I just need You to help us, Lord. My heart wasn’t focused on judgment; it was focused on survival.
But as we went deeper into the trial, I began to feel the attacks of evil more clearly. I started to see the destruction caused by those who love darkness in a different light—not with fascination, but with discernment. It revealed how real the battle truly is.
That awareness strengthened my need to make the Lord my refuge—to make Him the One I turn to when the chaos, pain, and hurt become too much to bear. Just last night, anxiety settled in as I tried to fall asleep. I woke up several times, my heart racing, panic pressing in. Each time, my first response was prayer: God, I rebuke this anxious feeling in Your name. Please give me peace. Calm my heart. Let me feel Your presence surrounding my home.
Prayer is a weapon—one we can use against an enemy who is constantly trying to wear us down and destroy us. There are seasons when the battle feels personal, when the attacks seem to increase and feel never-ending. In those moments, we must continue to make God our dwelling place—the One we turn to again and again. He is faithful to protect us.
Judgment comes for all of us, both the wicked and the followers of God. But He promises that when we love Him and make Him our refuge, we will not be overtaken. We are held securely in Him, with the promise of eternity by His side.
If fear feels loud and rest feels out of reach right now, remember this: God isn’t asking you to be strong—He’s asking you to be honest. Whispered prayers matter, and tired faith is still faith.
I hope you’re enjoying this walk through Psalm 91 with me. Next, we’ll step into the promise of angels—one of my favorite verses and a reminder I hold close. I’m grateful to walk through it with you.
