God, You still got this, right?
I’ve asked this question more times than I can count. And every single time, His answer has been yes.
Is it a booming voice? No.
Is it an overwhelming feeling deep inside? Yes—sometimes.
In the beginning of our battle, I felt God so close. He showed up in ways I honestly thought only happened in Scripture. I needed Him to show up like that. I needed to see Him move in ways I couldn’t explain away. It felt like He was building my faith and my trust one miracle at a time.
As our battle has gone on, it’s not that He hasn’t shown up—it’s that the “burning bush” moments (Exodus 3:2–5) have been fewer. And I’ll be honest: I like burning bush moments. I want them every day. Faith and trust feel a whole lot easier when God is right in your face about it.
During one of my tantrums, I told one of my mentors that I wished Jesus would just show up every morning, sit down with me over coffee, and tell me the game plan so I could make sure I’m doing my part. He shook his head (because yes, my expectations are a bit high) and said, “He has shown up. He has guided you every step of the way. He just took the training wheels off. He’s giving you space to build deeper faith and trust.”
You’re not meant to long for the training wheels—you’re meant to grow. But honestly? The training wheels felt easier. Unfortunately, He never promised easy. Quite the opposite.
John 16:33 reminds us:
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
When I struggle, worship becomes my lifeline. Music is one of the main ways I fight through the hard days. God uses songs to speak straight to my heart—lyrics that show up at the exact right time, reminding me of His promises. In those moments, I start recounting His faithfulness throughout my life. The times His protection was undeniable. The times I know I wouldn’t be here without Him. Writing those moments down reminds me: I have no reason not to trust Him. He has never failed me.
God works in ways we can’t always see—behind the scenes, in the quiet, in the places we don’t expect. Trusting the process is rarely easy. But if He is truly the Author of our story, then we can trust that every chapter is written with purpose, and every line is written with us in mind.
